BILLERICA FINISHES ATOP THE NORTH |
| After posting a near flawless regular season record, Billerica continued its domination in the playoffs en route to a North Division title win. In the final game, Brian Corbett scored two goals 28 seconds apart midway through the third period and Johnson had 1-1-2 as Billerica pulled out a 4-3 decision over Woburn. |

GROTON (6th) SAVES BEST FOR LAST |
| They finished the regular season in fourth place in the standings, but Groton (6th) saved their best for last and won the 6th Grade North Playoffs. They capped off their championship run with a 5-3 win over Newburyport. Groton also defeated Reading (4-1) and Andover (3-2) along the way. |

WOLFPACK ROAR TO THE SOUTH TITLE |
| The Arlington Wolfpack dominated the 6th Grade South Division all season long and posted a 10-2-0 regular-season record. Come playoff time, it was much of the same as the Wolfpack soared to the top to capture the 6th Grade South Division title with a big win over Lincoln Sudbury in the championship game. |

EXETER NH BRINGS HOME SOUTH TITLE |
| Exeter N.H. I fought through a defensive final game against the Lynnfield I last Sunday to cap their winning regular season with a championship following a triple shoot-out victory. Highlights from all championship games will be posted shortly. |

HAIL TO THE 2012 VMSHL CHAMPIONS |
| It was another exciting and fun championship weekend as seven teams earned the right to call themselves 2011-2012 VMSHL divisional champions. Congratulations to all teams on a great season. Highlights from all championship games will be posted shortly. |

BILLERICA SURVIVES BIG CHALLENGE |
| Billerica I has lost just one game this season and currently leads the North Division with a dominating 10-1-1 record. During the week ending on February 12th, Billerica faced a tough challenge but managed to skate away with a 4-4 tie with Woburn I (the second-place team). |

BEDFORD GRASPS SLIM CENTRAL LEAD |
| With the season winding down, Bedford I continues to hang onto a slim one-point lead in the Central Division standings. During the week ending on February 5th, Josh Darrela and Nick Parenti both had two assists to lead Bedford to a 3-1 win over Melrose II, which - along with No Andover 7th - stand in a tie for second place.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY HOLDS ONTO FIRST |
| Lincoln-Sudbury I maintained its hold in the East Division with an important 8-5 win over Methuen (7th). Lincoln-Sudbury currently holds a slim one-point edge over Concord Carlisle I in the divisional standings with a 6-4-0 record. Next up for this talented team will be showdowns with Malden I and Groton (8th).

NEWTON CRUISES INTO FOURTH PLACE |
| Newton I moved into the top four in the South Division thanks to part to a big 4-2 victory over Winthrop I which is part of a run that has seen the squad win two of its last four games. Next up for Newton I will be another face off against Winthrop I on February 12th and then a battle with Reading 8th on February 19th.

NO LET UP FOR CONCORD CARLISLE I |
| Although its seven-game unbeaten streak was halted by Lincoln-Sudbury last Sunday, Concord Carlisle I maintained its stronghold over the top spot in the East Division with a 5-1-0 record. The talented squad welcomed in the New Year with a big 3-0 win over Bedford I and then a 7-3 decision against Malden I. In the latter game, Jeff Costanza posted four assists and Evan Maione and Kevin Bailey both wore hats for Concord.

MELROSE RISES TO THE CENTRAL TOP |
| The Melrose II team maintained its position atop the Central Division by edging Malden by a score of 4-3. In that exciting game, Ryan Sheft scored the winner with just 2:06 left and Hared Crowell had 1-1-2 to lead the way offensively. Melrose now boasts a 4-1-0 record and has a four-point advantage over Groton and Malden. |

METHUEN (7th) MAKES A MOVE |
| Methuen (7th) moved within one point of third place in the East Division following a recent 4-1 win over Newburyport. In that key showdown, Brendan O'Shea and Mike Cooper both had a goal and an assist to pace Methuen, which is 2-2-0 in league play. |

READING BARRELS TOWARDS FIRST |
| In South Division action during the week ending on December 17th, the Reading 8th team scored an important tie against league-rival Groton to pull within one point of first place. Reading has a 2-1-1 record and trails only Exeter N.H. I and Lynnfield I in the divisional standings. |

NORTH ANDOVER SCORES BIG WIN! |
| In dramatic fashion, North Andover posted its first East Division victory when Sam Curran scored with 18 seconds left to give the Knights a 5-4 win over Methuen. Concord Carlisle I (3-0-0) and Newburyport II (2-0-0) remain the only undefeated teams in the VMSHL's East Division. |

| The second season of the Valley Middle School League began in earnest last week. Last season, Reading reeled off 12 straight victories to win the sixth grade title, while Woburn won the seventh/eighth grade North and Lexington won the South. There will be many more highlights this season that will be featured as part of the Mike Shalin weekly roundups. |
